Centennial School District Secures $450,000 in State Funding Through Local Legislative Advocacy

The Centennial School District announced during its October 13, 2026, Board of School Directors meeting that local legislators have secured a combined $450,000 in state funding to support educational programming, enhance school facilities, and strengthen opportunities for students and the broader community.

The funding reflects the advocacy of Senator Frank Farry and State Representative Kristin Marcell and State Representative Brian Munroe, whose support will advance several district priorities.

$300,000 for Betty Huf Planetarium Upgrades

Senator Farry and Representatives Marcell and Munroe jointly secured $300,000 through the 2026–2027 state budget to support the acquisition of two cove-mounted projectors at the Betty Huf Planetarium at William Tennent High School. These upgrades will enhance the planetarium’s presentation capabilities, enriching educational experiences for Centennial students while also providing an engaging resource for the broader community.

$50,000 to Support Home and School Associations

Senator Farry secured an additional $50,000 through the 2026–2027 state budget to support the district’s Home and School Associations. Each of Centennial’s five elementary and middle schools will receive $10,000 to support school-based initiatives and activities that strengthen the educational experience for students and foster connections among families, schools, and the community.

$100,000 for High School Extracurricular Activities

Senator Farry also secured $100,000 through the 2025–2026 state budget, enacted in November 2025, to support extracurricular opportunities at William Tennent High School. This funding includes support for a weight room renovation and will help enhance facilities and resources that contribute to students’ development beyond the classroom.

A Shared Commitment to Students and Schools
